Xavi Hernandez Slams FC Barcelona, Makes Big Real Madrid Claim

FC Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has slammed his former team for being "asleep", and also made a huge claim about Real Madrid's recent UEFA Champions League win.

Zidane: Why I Decided To Quit Real

Los Blancos won their third consecutive UCL title this past weekend, when they beat Liverpool 3-1 courtesy of a goal from Karim Benzema and a brace from Gareth Bale.

Xavi has now claimed that although Real had some luck on their way to the final, they are winning because of their mentality, while his former club is falling behind due to the club not signing the right players.

"Madrid have a winning gene and Barcelona have fallen asleep," he said, according to Marca.

"They've been asleep for years when it comes to signings, and those who are signing players don't know what to do. That takes its toll.

"Real Madrid had everything in their favour: injured players like Neymar, Robben, Boateng, the referees, the most important player in Liverpool who they hurt, the Bayern and Liverpool goalies who messed up. It looks like witchcraft."

Official: Zidane Announces Shock Real Madrid Departure

Xavi left the Catalan giants three years ago, after making 769 appearances between 1998 and 2015 for the Blaugrana.
