Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero has explained why he refused to take the famous No. 10 jersey that was vacated by Lionel Messi.
The Argentine joined the Catalan outfit on a free transfer from Manchester City in the recent window, although his countryman Messi went on to join Paris Saint-Germain.
Many thought the No. 10 jersey would go to Aguero with the attacker having worn the number at City, but the striker went for the No. 19 shirt, which he wears for the Argentine national side.
"The players asked me to take the No. 10, but I refused. In fact, the No. 10 looks good on Ansu Fati."
Aguero added that as one of the senior players in the side, he will do his best to help Fati and the other young players in the squad.
"Ansu is still a young player and it is difficult to stay at a high level all the time," he added.
"As experienced players, we do our best to help the youngsters. Ansu has a lot of talent and he trains a lot. We are fortunate that he is in Barcelona."
