Messi joined up with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain this week after officially parting ways with Barcelona, who were unable to afford the player's services due their financial issues.
The Argentine revealed he even offered to cut his salary by 50 percent to stay at the club, but LaLiga's wage structure did not allow that to happen.
The news of Messi's departure did not go down well with the Catalan giants squad, as per the Athletic, who reported that a lot of the players are angry.
"There are a lot of angry people, and they are angry for different reasons. Maybe some are right, maybe some are wrong. Every situation is different," a source told the Athletic.
"Neto wants to go. [Philippe] Coutinho feels like s***. [Miralem] Pjanic feels defrauded. Jordi Alba is on a crazy long-term contract."
The Catalan outfit begin their LaLiga campaign on Sunday evening against Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou.
