Ousmane Dembele has officially become a free agent after his contract at Barcelona expired.
With the month of June coming to an end on Thursday, the 25-year-old France international has seen his contract at the Catalan giants expire.
As things stand, it is unknown as to whether or not Dembele will be handed a new deal in Spain as the winger faces an uncertain few weeks, perhaps similar to what Lionel Messi did last year.
The Argentine returned to Spain to begin pre-season following a successful Copa America with his country, but was soon told that the Blaugrana would not be able to re-sign him after his contract had run out weeks earlier.
Dembele, it seems, is in the same boat as his former teammate was then, particularly with Barcelona said to be strongly interested in signing Brazil international Raphinha from Leeds United.
Throughout the transfer window, it has felt like a story of "one or the other" for the LaLiga giants, as both attackers occupy the right side of the forward line.
As of 1 July, Dembele is technically considered a free agent, although there has not yet been any official communication from the club regarding his future.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund man has made 149 appearances for the Blaugrana since his debut in 2017, contributing to 66 goals along the way.
