LaLiga Report: Huesca v FC Barcelona 13 April 2019

LaLiga

Result: Huesca 0-0 FC Barcelona

Date: 13 April 2019

Venue: Estadio El Alcoraz

A second-string FC Barcelona side could only secure a point against bottom-place Huesca, who they defeated 8-2 earlier in the season.

With one eye on Tuesday's UEFA Champions League encounter, coach Ernesto Valverde opted to rest Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique.

Despite the several changes, the Catalan giants would have fancied themselves after thumping the same opponents 8-2 earlier in the season.

The returning Ousmane Dembele went close to breaking the deadlock after 16 minutes, but he failed to beat Santamaria from six-yards out.

The visitors continued to dominate the possession for most of the half, but Dembele's shot proved to be the only real threat at the Huesca goal.

The second half didn't fare any better, which prompted Valverde to introduce Jordi Alba and Philippe Coutinho for Riqui Puig and Ousmane Dembele.

Huesca were bottom of the log heading into the clash and were still able to survive, but they failed to carve out any openings as Marc-Andre Ter Stegen barely had a save to make.

Unfortunately for the Catalan giants, they struggled to carve out opportunities of their despite the late introduction of Arthur.

In the end, the encounter ended goalles although Barca would feel slight embarrassed not to have secured maximum points against Huesca.
