Following Cristiano Ronaldo's claims that he is the best player to have ever played the game, Karim Benzema has suggested that there are many players who were better.
The Al-Ittihad captain does not believe his former Real Madrid teammate and current Al-Nassr star is the greatest footballer of all time.
The Portuguese recently reiterated that he considers himself the best in the history of the sport, citing his remarkable numbers and achievements as proof of his status.
However, following Al-Ittihad's 4-1 triumph over Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday, Benzema shared his own perspective on the debate.
"I think everyone has the right to say what they want. If he thinks he is the best player in history, that is his opinion," Benzema said per Kooora.
"But from my point of view, there are many players. For example, I prefer Ronaldo Nazario (the Brazilian). But at the same time, Cristiano is Cristiano."
The Frenchman was quick to clarify that he does not like comparing players, acknowledging that each footballer has their own unique journey.
"I think each player has his own story, and Cristiano has his own career," he concluded.
Benzema's Al-Ittihad are currently top of the Saudi Pro League table, with Ronaldo's Al-Nassr currently in fourth place, trailing the league leaders by 11 points.
