According to Brazilian television channel Sportv, Pato will join Chelsea in a loan deal on Wednesday, but will extend his contract with Corinthians ahead of the temporary move to the Premier League.
The former Milan striker, who burst on to the scene with the Rossoneri as a teenager, has had bad luck with injuries early on in his career, unfortunately stalling his progress as one of Europe's leading players.
The 26-year-old was touted as the next best thing while playing in Italy, but moved back to Brazil in 2013 after 150 appearances and 63 goals for the Italian giants.
The forward regained his goalscoring touch at Corinthians, as well as Sao Paolo, where he spent time on loan, and has been linked with a move back to Europe ever since.
Pato was reportedly close to joining Liverpool two weeks ago, and has also been linked with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
Despite those rumours, however, publications in Brazil seem confident he will sign for the Blues on loan.
