The January transfer window has only been open for a few days, but two deals have already joined the list for the most expensive January transfers in history, one of them breaking the previous record.

Brazilian midfielder Oscar joined Shanghai SIPG from Chelsea, making him one of the highest earners in the game with a reported annual salary of €24 million (R343 million).
His €60 million (R858 million) move is the new record transfer in January, edging out Fernando Torres' €58.5 million (R837 million) move from Liverpool to Chelsea (in 2011) to second place.
Alex Teixeira is another player who left Europe for China and his €50 million (R715 million) move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Jiangsu Suning (in 2016) sits in third place.
Juan Mata's €44.73 million (R640 million) transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United (in 2014) follows in fourth spot, while Jackson Martinez's €42 million (R600 million) move from Atletico Madrid to Guangzhou Evergrande (in 2016) is the third transfer to China in the top five.
Andy Carroll's €41 million transfer from Newcastle United to Liverpool (in 2011) is in sixth spot, ahead of Lucas Moura's €40 million (R572 million) move from Sao Paolo to Paris Saint-Germain in seventh.
Julian Draxler is the second player from the current transfer window whose move made it among the 10 most expensive January deals ever, after he joined PSG for €40 million (R572 million) from Wolfsburg.

Edin Dzeko's transfer from the same German side to Manchester City (in 2011) for €37 million (R529 million) and Willian's move from Shakhtar to Anzhi Makhachkala for €35 million (R500 million) back in 2013 completes the top 10.
