According to the Metro, the London club has made a £42 million bid for the African striker, who has been in great form this season for his German club.

It has also been reported that if Dortmund don't accept that offer, Arsenal are willing to dig deeper into their pockets.

The Gunners would reportedly consider breaking their record fee spent on a player, the £42.5 million they paid for former Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil in 2013.

Dortmund have insisted Aubameyang is not for sale at any cost, despite reports that the club would accept an offer in excess of £60 million.

The Gabon international has played 27 times for BVB so far this season, contributing with 27 strikes and six assists.
