According to the Daily Mirror, the London club has come up with a list of names they could target should the German playmaker decide to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.
Ozil is yet to sign a new contract with the Gunners, and has only one year remaining on his current deal.
Manager Arsene Wenger has remained coy on whether or not the midfielder will extend his stay at the club, but it is believed he has started looking at possible replacements.
The five players currently being scouted are Emil Forsberg (RB Leipzig), James Rodriguez (Real Madrid), Ross Barkley (Everton), Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City) and Thomas Lemar (Monaco).
The stars mentioned above are all seen as adequate replacements for the former Los Blancos star, and would be expected to slot into the Gunners' set-up quite comfortably.
Mahrez and Lemar seem to be the London club's first choice options to replace Ozil, while many expect Rodriguez to join Manchester United.
Forsberg and Barkley seem the least likely to make the move to London, but could become options if the other targets don't work out.
Which one of these stars do you think would be the best replacement for Ozil if he leaves Arsenal? Have your say in the comments section below.
