Portuguese outfit Benfica have confirmed that they have sold Ederson Moraes, commonly known as Ederson, to Manchester City for a fee of €40 million (R585 million).
Benfica will apparently receive €20 million (R292 million) of the fee, while his former club Rio Ave will get €12 million (R176 million) and the player's agency, Gestifute – owned by Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes – will get €8 million (R117 million), according to journalist Jan Hagen.
The 23-year-old Brazilian was Guardiola's top goalkeeping target, and becomes the second most expensive goalkeeper in history, behind Gianluigi Buffon – the Italian joined Juventus from Parma for a fee of €52.88 million (R773 million) back in 2001/02.
