Valverde is apparently already busy with his transfer plans, and wants to beat the club's eternal rivals Real to the signing of Aymeric Laporte, according to Don Balon.
Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is said to also want to lure the talented centre back to the Santiago Bernabeu to replace Pepe, whose current contract expires at the end of June.
Laporte played for Valverde at Athletic Bilbao over the past few seasons, and the new Barca boss is apparently keen to partner him with Gerard Pique at the Camp Nou.

The French defender reportedly has a £56 million (R939 million) release clause in his contract, and has been heavily linked with a move away from Athletic in recent transfer windows.
