Recent reports suggest that the Spanish striker is close to joining Mourinho's side, after he and the club reportedly agreed terms on Friday.
However, according to Don Balon, the Spaniard is keen for his teammate Bale to join him in England as he feels that they could mount a serious title challenge together at United.
The former Tottenham Hotspur winger spent a large portion of the 2016/17 campaign injured, which led to Spanish midfielder Isco getting more regular game time at Los Blancos.
The Welshman was even left on the bench for the UEFA Champions League final against Juventus, along with Alvaro Morata, although both were brought on by Zinedine Zidane.
Morata enjoyed a good 2016/17 season, despite not playing as often as he may have hoped, as he managed to find the back of the net 20 times in 43 appearances.

Bale, on the other hand, had a quiet campaign by his standards, scoring just nine goals in 27 matches.
