Barca 'Agree' To Sign New Attacker

Barca 'Agree' To Sign New Attacker

Barcelona have now reportedly agreed contract terms with a new attacker ahead of a mooted transfer.

The Blaugrana have been in the market for a left wing. Nico Williams was believed to be the club's top target for the position, but he is now unlikely to make the move to Catalonia extending his stay at Athletic Club, and as a consequence, this has forced the Spanish giants to look for alternatives.

There have been several other options the club has explored besides the Spain international, and now according to Sport, it seems they have landed on Federico Chiesa.

The Italian is in the final year of his contract at Juventus and is not in new head coach Thiago Motta's plans. The Catalan giants are believed to be fans of the 2020 UEFA European Championship winner as he fits within the financial parameters of the club, and Chiesa is also keen on making the move.

The same report claims that the 26-year-old is currently earning €6 million (R120 million) per season in Italy, but is willing to accept Barca's offer of €4.5 million (R90 million) annually in order to help the club alleviate their precarious financial situation.

As per Relevo, the LALIGA outfit is not willing to pay more than €15 million (R300 million) for the forward, who will be a free agent at the end of the 2024/25 season.

His acquisition is, however, not a certainty because the club still have the issue of registering some stars of their own. There will likely need to be more player sales at the Camp Nou before the club can follow through with signing the ex-Fiorentina attacker.
