FA Cup Semi-Final
Result: Manchester City 1-0 Brighton and Hove Albion
Date: 06 March 2019
Venue: Wembley Stadium
Manchester City's dream of securing a quadruple remain intact after they defeated Brighton and Hove Albion to advance to the FA Cup final.
The Citizens got off to a good start as Gabriel Jesus, in for Sergio Aguero, nodded home Kevin de Bruyne's superb cross.
As expected it was one-way traffic in the first half, as Brighton were quite happy to sit back and attack the Citizens on the counter.
Kyle Walker was lucky not to have seen red after 32 minutes when he appeared to headbutt Jahanbakhsh, but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decided against giving a red card.
Surprisingly, Brighton managed to carve out a chance five minutes before the break but Anthony Knockaert failed to pick out Glen Murray.
The Citizens continued from where the left off in the first as Illkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling forced Matt Ryan into a couple fine saves inside the opening 15 minutes.
Brighton started to seeing more of the ball after 70 minutes as they went in pursuit of an equaliser as City took their foot off the pedal.
With Brighton pushing for an equaliser, Pep Guardiola threw on defender John Stones to shut up shop in the closing stages.
In the end, the Citizens were able to see out the remaining stages of the half to advance to the final in May.
