FA Cup Semi-Final
Result: Chelsea 2-0 Southampton
Date: 22 April 2018
Venue: Wembley Stadium
Chelsea will face Manchester United in the FA Cup final after goals from Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata secured a 2-0 win over Southampton in the semi-finals on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues were without the services of Marcos Alonso, who is serving the first of a three-game ban.
Chelsea went close to breaking the deadlock after seven minutes when Willian rattled the crossbar from the right side of the box.
The rest of the first half proved to be a dull affair, as sides struggled to carve out clear-cut chances.
Five minutes before the break, Cesc Fabregas picked out Giroud, who volleyed over the crossbar from close range, which was the biggest chance of the half.
The Blues broke the deadlock shortly after the break as Giroud skipped past a couple challenges before slotting into an empty net.
With the Saints struggling to carve out chances, Mark Hughes introduced Dusan Tadic and Nathan Redmond after the hour mark.
Conte opted for a change of his own with 15 minutes remaining, with Cesc Fabregas making way for Pedro Rodriguez.
Alvaro Morata was introduced after 80 minutes and his impact was instant as he rose well to head home Cesar Azpilicueta's cross, 0-2.
Southampton nearly pulled a goal back five minutes later, but Charlie Austin saw his low strike crash against the upright.
The Saints could not claw their way back into the encounter as the semi-final ended 2-0 to the Blues, who reach the final for the second straight season.
