Chelsea eased into the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 victory over Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday evening.
Maurizio Sarri made eight changes from their win over Tottenham Hotspur, with AC Milan loanee Gonzalo Higuain making his debut for the club. Sarri also named Callum Hudson-Odoi in the line-up despite reports that the winger has submitted a transfer request at the club.
Higuain had his first chance for Chelsea after 18 minutes after breaking into the box, but his volley sailed across the face of the goal.
The referee awarded the visitors a penalty in the 22nd minute after Joey Pelupessy went down under the challenge from Ampadu, hower that decision was overturned by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Two minutes later, the Blues were awarded a penalty when Sam Hutchinson fouled Cesar Azpilicueta, which allowed Willian to step up and slot home for the opening goal.
Adam Reach almost equalised for the Owls five minutes after the break with a cross-cum-shot from the right side of the box that came off the outside of the post.
The Blues eventually doubled their lead on 65 minutes as Hodson-Odoi impressively cut onto his left foot before burying the ball home at the near post.
Higuain was withdrawn for Chelsea in the last ten minutes for Olivier Giroud, who has also been linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge this month,
Giroud made his presence as he teed up Willian for the third goal, with the latter superb curling the ball into the far corner to round an impressive win.
The Blues will now switch their focus to Tuesday's Premier League encounter against Bournemouth.
