Result: Ludogorets 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur
Date: 05 November 2020
Venue: Ludogorets Arena
Harry Kane bagged his 200th goal for Tottenham Hotspur, who defeated Ludogorets 3-1 in the UEFA Europa League group stages on Thursday evening.
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho named a relatively strong line-up after a shock defeat to Antwerp last week, with defenders Matt Doherty, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier recalled while upfront Harry Kane and Lucas Moura also returned.
After hitting the post with a deflected shot early on, Kane eventually opened the scoring for Tottenham in the 13th minute with a looping header across the goal from Moura's corner. He has now scored 200 goals in 300 appearances for the club.
Mourinho's charges were getting good chances and Moura finally made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute with a close-range finish at the back post after he was picked out by Kane.
Ludogorets were struggling to get out of their own half in the closing phase of the first stanza, with the visitors threatening to put the game to bed but they settled for a two-goal cushion heading to the break.
The Bulgarian side had a perfect start in the second stanza after Claudiu Keseru pulled a goal back five minutes from the break with brilliant volleyed strike past goalkeeper Joe Hart after a through ball over the defence.
Son had an immediate impact after coming on for Spurs on the hour-mark, as he sliced open the defence with a cut-back for Giovani Lo Celso, who netted the third goal with a tap-in from six yards out.
Tottenham were finding chances in the closing stages to run riot but were let down by their finishing as they comfortably clinched their second win to go up to second in Group J.
