Inter were unchanged from their demolition of Shakhtar Donetsk, as Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez continued to lead the front line while Sevilla had one alteration, as Luuk de Jong was recalled.
Antonio Conte's charges had a dream start after winning a penalty in the fourth minute following Diego Carlos' challenge on Lukaku, who stepped up and made no mistake from the spot.
The Spanish side did not take long to come back into the game, as they equalised in the 12th minute after de Jong powered home a header from Jesus Navas' cross, which was the same combo for the winning goal against Manchester United.
Julen Lopetegui's troops then went 2-1 up in the 33rd minute after de Jong looped a towering header at the back post away from shot-stopper Samir Handanovic to complete his brace.
However, the Nerazzurri quickly levelled matters two minutes later after Diego Godin headed Marcelo Brozovic's free-kick to send the sides into the break all square.
Inter defended deep in their own half in the early stages of the second stanza, waiting to pounce on counter-attacks and Lukaku broke away clear in the 64th minute but his low shot was saved by Bounou in a one-on-one situation.
The Serie A side were made to rue that miss as Sevilla went ahead in the 74th minute after Carlos' over-head kick took a deflection off Lukaku's foot at the back post
Conte's troops were fired up to get back into the game and they came close to equalising in the last eight minutes in a goal-mouth scramble after Alexis Sanchez's effort was cleared off the line by Jules Kounde.
Sevilla were able to see off a late push from Conte's troops to claim their sixth title in their sixth final.
