Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Thrilled To Have Sir Alex Ferguson With Squad For UEFA Europa League Final

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Thrilled To Have Sir Alex Ferguson With Squad For UEFA Europa League Final

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has discussed Sir Alex Ferguson's presence around the team ahead of their UEFA Europa League final against Villarreal on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils are set to take on Unai Emery's Villarreal in Poland, in a match that many consider a potentially season-defining one for Solskjaer and his players.

The importance of the Europa League final appears to be felt around the club, with club legend Ferguson even travelling with the squad to Gdansk, where the clash will be held.

Speaking ahead of the match, Solskjaer said he hopes his former boss enjoys the game.

"He (Ferguson) flew out with us on Monday," he said, according to Independent.ie.

"Some of us, some of the players and staff, went to see his documentary. I sat there thinking about this man and what he's done for the club. He's a special man.

"He's like an encyclopedia of football – even though I got him on a quiz question yesterday. One of the players getting an answer before him, I'm sure he is not happy with that!

"Just to have him around when we eat in the restaurant. I'm sure the players, if they wonder about something, can ask him and he's always available for a chat because this is the club in his heart.

"I hope he's going to enjoy it tomorrow night as well because I owe most of my career to him and this club."

While Solskjaer is yet to win a trophy since becoming United manager, the club has not celebrated silverware success since claiming the 2016/17 Europa League prize under Jose Mourinho.
