After Hlompho Kekana was nominated for the FIFA Puskas award and a wonder goal by one of his own players, Jose Mourinho has admitted he would have lied in order to be considered the prestigious accolade.
Harry Winks was on target for Spurs in their 4-0 annihilation of Ludogorets in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, scoring a screamer.
However, the midfielder admitted after the match that he was looking to find Gareth Bale with a 55-yard pass, which ended up in the back of the net.
"I'd love to sit here and say that I did (mean to score), but I've got to be honest and say no," Winks told BT Sport.
"I saw Gaz (Bale) run in. I'll take it at the end of the day. It has been a while (since I last scored), but I am happy with the way the team played."
In Mourinho's interview with BT Sport soon after, the manager joked that he was not happy with the England midfielder.
"He is too honest! I am not happy with him! With a goal like that, you have to say you meant it, but (he is) a good kid. He is honest."
In another interview, the Spurs boss admitted he would have taken a different approach, adding: "Winks was honest and he told in some flash interview that he wanted to play a diagonal ball to Bale.
"If it was me, I would have said I tried to score that goal and would be a candidate to the Puskas Awards."
