Zungu followed in the footsteps of his former Mamelodi Sundowns teammate Percy Tau who made his Europa League debut last season for Club Brugge against Manchester United.

McCarthy made a total of 39 appearances with Ajax Amsterdam, Celta Vigo and Blackburn Rovers while he netted 15 goals in the process.
