Neco Williams is the latest starlet to be produced by Liverpool's academy and he played a starring role in the club's Carabao Cup win over Arsenal on Wednesday night, but who is the 18-year-old debutant and just how far can he go?

With Reds boss Jurgen Klopp looking to rotate his squad ahead of Liverpool's congested fixture list over the next few months, Williams was handed his debut at right-back ahead of fellow academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Despite his side conceding five goals on the night, the Wrexham-born defender looked composed at the back and in going forward, and recorded the last-minute assist for Divock Origi's late equaliser, forcing the match into a penalty shootout, from which Liverpool emerged victorious.

Once described by Steven Gerrard as a "magnificent" talent, Williams is the latest academy player to burst into the first team under Klopp, with the likes of Alexander-Arnold, Ben Woodburn, Rhian Brewster and Curtis Jones being afforded similar opportunities in the past, and looks set to feature in the senior squad again in the future.
Things could have worked out differently for the 18-year-old, however, as, according to the Daily Mirror, he grew up supporting Premier League rivals Manchester United before joining Liverpool's academy at the age of six.
He initially started out as a forward and then a right winger before converting to a defensive role, where he has excelled in recent times at youth level, and has already represented the Reds in the UEFA Youth League.

Williams is thought to be held in high regard by the Liverpool hierarchy, and, while it is too soon to predict his future, could serve as a long-term option to provide cover for Alexander-Arnold in the right-back position.
