The Gunners' current contract with PUMA expires at the end of the 2018/19 season, and adidas will take over from the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign.

The German company will reportedly pay Arsenal £60 million (R1.14 billion) a year – which is double what they received from PUMA – and £300 million (R5.68 billion) over the five years of the deal.

The annual £60 million income puts Arsenal in third place among the most lucrative kit deals in football, according to The Guardian. Only FC Barcelona and Manchester United earn more than the Premier League side in this respect, while Chelsea's new Nike deal also guarantees them an income of £60 million a year.

Catalan giants Barcelona are understood to receive £140 million (R2.65 billion) per annum from Nike – which is the most any football team has ever earned from a kit deal – and almost twice as much as second-placed United. The Red Devils' deal with adidas is worth £75 million (R1.42 billion) a year.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid, who have now won the UEFA Champions League three times in a row, currently only earn £34 million (R643 million) from their adidas deal, which expires in 2020.

However, according to Football Leaks, a new £85 million R1.61 billion) deal over 10 years, which would be the second-most lucrative such contract in football, as already been agreed. However, nothing has officially been announced by either side so far.
