The former Real Madrid striker has joined the Blues on loan from Juventus until the end of the season, with the Premier League side having the option to extend his contract for another season for a fee of £15.6 million (R281 million) or buy him permanently for £31.2 million (R562 million), as confirmed by Juventus.
At Stamford Bridge, Higuain reportedly earns £270 000 (R4.9 million) a week, making him Chelsea's second-highest earner behind N'Golo Kante.
League-wide, Higuain's salary puts him in fifth position behind Kante and Paul Pogba, who are both believed to be on £290 000 (R5.2 million) a week, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, at £350 000 (R6.3 million) a week, and Manchester United winger Alexis Sanchez, with a weekly wage of £500 000 (R9 million), are the only other players who are paid more than Higuain.
