Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) has announced that referees Darren England and Dan Cook have been dropped from their officiating duties for the upcoming set of fixtures in the Premier League.
England, who was the handling VAR duties in north London, had a miscommunication with the on-field referee, which led to Luis Diaz's opener for the Reds on the night being disallowed.
Now he and Cook's duties will be taken over by new officials for the next league games.
"Darren England and Dan Cook have been replaced for the Nottingham Forest v Brentford and Fulham v Chelsea matches," a statement from PGMOL read, as per the Daily Mail.
"Craig Pawson will now assume England's duties as 4th official at City Ground, while Eddie Smart will take over from Cook as assistant ref at Craven Cottage."
Immediately after the Reds' first Premier League loss of the season, PGMOL released a statement admitting that the Colombian's goal should have stood.
"PGMOL acknowledge a significant human error occurred during the first half of Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool," the statement read.
"The goal but Luis Diaz was disallowed for offside by the on-field team of match officials. This was a clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention, however, the VAR failed to intervene.
"PGMOL will conduct a full review into the circumstances which led to the error.
