De Gea Howler Leads To Back-To-Back Man Utd Losses

Manchester United were unable to recover from David de Gea's howler as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Ham United on Sunday evening.

Wout Weghorst returned to the Red Devils line-up after the loss to Brighton and Hove Albion, while Christian Eriksen replaced Fred in the midfield.

The Red Devils carved out the first chance on seven minutes when Antony teed up Bruno Fernandes, who unleashed a low strike that sailed inches wide of Lukasz Fabianksi's upright.

Erik ten Hag's charges continued to dominate and carve out sights at goal, with both Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford going close before the 20-minute mark.

United were made to rue those misses as West Ham took the lead against the run of play on 27 minute when a relatively tame shot by trickled into the back of the net after an error by David de Gea.

The Visiting side nearly restored parity a few minutes later as Antony cut inside to create space before seeing is long-range strike crash against the frame of the goal.

The second half continued in similar fashion to the first but West Ham did have the ball in the back of the net seven minutes, although celebrations were cut short as Michail Antonio fouled De Gea in the build-up.

Ten Hag responded with his first change before the hour mark as Anthony Martial replaced Weghorst in the attack as the Red Devils began to up the tempo.

The offside flag came to the Red Devils' once again in the 73rd minute when Tomas Soucek powered home a header at De Gea's near post, although the midfielder was in an offside position.

Martial did go close to bagging an equaliser on 90 minute after combining with Rashford in the box, but the Frenchman saw his close-range strike palmed away by Fabianski.
