Premier League Report: Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion

Result: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 West Bromwich Albion

Date: 07 February 2021

Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were on target to guide Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday afternoon.

Kane was back in the Spurs starting line-up as Carlos Vinicius dropped to the bench alongside Gareth Bale once again.

After a slow start, Kane had a big chance to put Spurs ahead in the 17th minute after being played in by Erik Lamela, but he dragged his effort wide of the mark.

Sam Johnstone came to West Brom's rescue on 40 minutes after pulling off a superb save to keep out Serge Aurier's header while Toby Alderweireld was denied on the rebound.

The Baggies should have taken the lead a few minutes later, but Mbaye Diagne could not steer his header past Spurs shot-stopper Hugo Lloris at the far post.

West Brom were made to rue that miss shortly after the break as Kane collected a pass from Pierre-Emile Højbjerg before slotting beyond Sam Johnstone.

The lead was doubled five minutes later when a swift counter-attack ended with Lucas Moura playing Heung-Min Son for the close-range finish.

Diagne had the ball in the back of the net for West Brom midway through the second half, but his glancing header was flagged for offside as frustration began to grow.

Unfortunately for Sam Allardyce's charges, that was as good as it got in the second stanza as Spurs held on to snap a three-game losing streak.
