City are unlikely to consider a move for free agent Paul Pogba, who played for Manchester United 233 times over two spells, in the new year, reports Football Insider.
It has been claimed by The Independent that the English champions have sounded out the 31-year-old about a potential move to the Etihad Stadium.
City will be on the lookout for more defensive midfield reinforcements in January following Rodri's injury, which is set to keep him out for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign.
Sources say they will enter the market for a new midfielder in the new year and have identified a number of defensive options.
Guardiola already has an abundance of options in Pogba's position, including the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Ilkay Gundogan.
Additionally, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is only eligible to play in March – meaning it will likely take too long for him to get up to speed.

Pogba had his four-year doping ban reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in October, clearing him to return to the game in 2025.
