With the end of Sergio Aguero's career at Manchester City seemingly approaching, manager Pep Guardiola appears to be resigned to the fact that the Argentine could be impossible to replace.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable career with the Citizens, scoring 244 goals in 355 matches since his arrival at the club in 2011.
There appeared to be uncertainty over his future at the time of Guardiola's appointment at the Etihad in 2016, but the striker has reached incredible numbers under the Spanish boss, finding the net on 108 occasions.
With Aguero having previously stated that he will move on from the English champions once his contract expires in 2021, Guardiola has now claimed it is almost be unthinkable to replace him.
"Sergio is irreplaceable," he said, according to Reuters.
"It'll be one of the toughest asks to replace him.
"We have another incredible striker in Gabriel Jesus and maybe another one will come when Sergio leaves, but he's irreplaceable. "
The 47-year-old also admitted that he has not yet spoken to the player about his future.
"I haven't spoken with him and don't know his intentions. Sometimes you've to take a decision but with most of the cases, the players decide," Guardiola added.
"He's done incredibly well. I've never seen a big star like him be so humble, so funny. It's a joy to work with him and how he accepts my decisions when it sometimes doesn't work for him."
Aguero has won 12 trophies during his time with City thus far, including four Premier League trophies.
