Pep Guardiola: How Manchester City Board Treated Me After Trophyless Season

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who was under pressure after not winning a single trophy last season, has revealed how the club's board responded to the unsuccessful campaign.

The Spaniard was brought in at the beginning of 2016/17 with a lot of expectation, but disappointed many when he ended the campaign without any silverware.

The former FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager was delighted with the encouragement he got from the board, despite not winning anything last season, as it has clearly paid dividends.

"Normally, in football, the weak point is the manager," Guardiola said, according to Manchester Evening News.

"I could feel how the club was behind me. It showed the players I am the manager.

"The club supported me and I tried to support the club, and it helps a lot."

Wenger: Pep Has Not Raised The Bar In Football

City's 3-0 Carabao Cup final win over Arsenal was Guardiola's 22nd trophy of his managerial career, and the Citizens' first since 2014.
