The Lilywhites have announced the signing of James Maddison from Leicester City for a reported €46.3 million (R946 million) following the Foxes' relegation to the EFL Championship.
The north Londoners moved quickly to seal the move as fellow Premier League outfit Newcastle United were also in the hunt to secure the playmaker's services.

The Magpies looked to be in pole position to land the Coventry-born attacker at one point, but new Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou was determined to sign the England international, and the Australian tactician now welcomes his second signing of window through the doors of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Maddison arrives after the side from the English capital secured goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario's services from Serie A team Empoli for a reported €20 million (R408 million).

The 26-year-old goalscoring midfielder has inked a five-year deal with the eight-time FA Cup winners after yet another productive season in England's top division, scoring 10 goals and bagging nine assists for a team that struggled in the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.
