Nicolas Pepe Reveals Arsenal Frustration

Nicolas Pepe Reveals Arsenal Frustration

One of Arsenal's African stars is growing increasingly frustrated as he find opportunities limited under manager Mikel Arteta.

Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe has three goals and two assists for the Gunners this season, but most of his opportunities to start matches have come in the UEFA Europa League and in domestic cup fixtures.

In fact, he has made just one start in the Premier League for the London club this season, despite having arrived in a big-money move in August 2019, and the forward is clearly not happy with his current situation.

"My goal is to play more. Have a little more playing time. A player who plays is happy. For me, I would like to play a little more to find a smile again," he told Canal+.

"He (Arteta) wants me to be 100% focused during the 90 minutes of the match.

"Afterwards, I see during training that I will be a substitute the following weekend. But the coach speaks to me, he also has assistants who are there for that.

"But it is frustrating for any player to be on the bench."

When he asked directly about Arteta, he added: "The coach makes his choices. It's up to me to show him that I don't have that role (on the bench)."
