The 29-year-old decided to go with a 3-5-2 formation for his team, and it had a good mixture of players who are seen as icons during certain phases of the club's recent history.
The Spaniard picked his fellow countryman David de Gea in goals ahead of Edwin van der Sar and treble-winning hero Peter Schmeichel.
His three-man defence consisted of former club captain Steve Bruce and the dynamic duo of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
Mata's midfield is filled with quality, with David Beckham, Bryan Robson, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo making the cut for his engine room.
Up front, Mata decided to go with former France international Eric Cantona and the Old Trafford side's currently leading goalscorer of all time, Wayne Rooney.
