Jose Mourinho and his Chelsea side have had a dreadful start to their new campaign, but how much would it cost the club if they were to sack the Portuguese manager?
Former Real Boss Slams Mourinho
According to reports, owner Roman Abramovich would need to pay £37.5 million to sack the former Real Madrid tactician, which would be a world record.
The Portuguese boss' future has been placed in doubt after seeing his league-winning squad drop to 16th place in the Premier League table after just eight games.
It's not only in the league that the Blues are suffering – they are currently in third position in their Champions League group after failing to beat FC Porto.
Mourinho recently received a vote of confidence from his board and has apparently been assured he will not be sacked if he gets Chelsea into the top four.
Abramovich offered his manager a contract extension back in the summer and will want to avoid forking out more money as he has already paid a combined total of £30 million to cut short the reigns of former managers Luiz Felipe Scolari, Andre Villas-Boas and Carlo Ancelotti.
Mourinho Explains What Will Make Him Quit Chelsea
Mourinho is currently being paid about £10 million a year at Stamford Bridge, which makes him the Premier League's highest-earning manager.
