Jurgen Klopp's former assistant manager, whom he fell out with at Liverpool in 2018, has made a shock claim about his 17-year partnership with the German boss.
Klopp and Zeljko Buvac ended their working and seemingly their personal relationship too suddenly in 2018, when the assistant departed Anfield ahead of the Reds 2017/18 UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid.
Buvac had been previously held in high regard by Klopp, who once dubbed him "The Brain", a nickname that now appears to have come back to haunt him.
Goal has now reported that, in a recent interview on YouTube, which has since been removed, the ex-Liverpool assistant implied he did all of the work behind the scenes during their time together.
"It felt like I've been the manager for all those 17 years. I had all the functions and tried to influence my team as much as I could to help them succeed, but I didn't need that kind of attention."
Buvac was also asked whether or not he congratulated Klopp on taking Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years.
"I didn't. I was happy for Liverpool, the fans and the players," he responded.
