FA Community Shield Report: Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea 2 August 2015

FA Community Shield Result: Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea Date: 2 August 2015 Venue: Wembley Stadium A determined Arsenal side kept Chelsea at bay to claim the FA Community Shield with a 1-0 victory at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. Arsene Wenger's charges made their intentions clear right after the game got underway as Theo Walcott dispossessed Nemanja Matic and surged forward. However, Thibault Courtois handled the pressure well and cleared. Both sides looked to be positive as they went in search of the opener. Chelsea won a couple of corner kicks around the 15 minute mark while Arsenal showcased some flowing movement in possession. The Gunners took the lead in the 24th minute. Theo Walcott received the ball in the middle of the park, 25 yards out, and spread it out wide to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who beat Azpilicueta before smashing his angled shot into the top left corner of the goal. The Blues had a great chance to equalise in the 37th minute when a cross from Loic Remy found Ramires, but the Brazilian's header went over the bar. Chelsea increased their tempo after the break and created decent opportunities. Koscielny made a terrific block in the 62nd minute when Eden Hazard was put through on goal, before Oscar tested Petr Cech with a curling free kick towards the top corner. Arsenal were content to sit back and look for the counter attacks in the last 20 minutes, while Chelsea desperately kept the pressure on to no avail. In the end the Gunners did well to negate everything the Blues threw at them, while Mourinho's men failed to take advantage of their chances despite enjoying much of the possession.
