Result: Liverpool 2-1 Sheffield United
Date: 24 October 2020
Venue: Anfield
Liverpool got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Sheffield United at Anfield.
Alisson Becker returned in goals for the Premier League champions while James Milner dropped to the bench at the expense of Jordan Henderson.
Sheffield were awarded a penalty on 12 minutes when the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) spotted Fabinho's foul on Oliver McBurnie in the box, which allowed Sander Berge to convert the opening goal.
McBurnie should have doubled the visitors' advantage on 20 minutes after breaking down the left side of the box, but he sent his low strike wide of the mark.
After waves of attacks, the Reds were back on level terms four minutes before the halftime break through Roberto Firmino's close-range finish. His first league goal of the season.
Mohamed Salah had the ball in the back of the net on the hour mark with a superb strike, but VAR disallowed the strike for an offside.
The Reds were not to be denied four minutes later as Sadio Mane turned provider to pick out Diogo Jota, who nodded home from close range.
With time running out, the visitors introduced David McGoldrick for John Lundstram in the 77th minute as they went in search of an equaliser.
However, Jurgen Klopp's men were able to see out the closing stages of the second half to claim the win and move level on points with leaders Everton.
