Reports suggest that Edinson Cavani has identified the next club he wants to join following his departure from Manchester United.
The Uruguay international has had a career littered with goals during his 15 years playing in European football, but towards the end of his stint at Old Trafford, the forward saw his numbers diminish.
Largely due to United's acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo, the 35-year-old went from being a regular with the Red Devils in 2020/21 to playing a significantly reduced role last season, ultimately culminating in the striker running down the remainder of his contract with the 13-time Premier League champions.
Now, according to Spanish publication Marca, Cavani wants to join up with Unai Emery at Villarreal.
The pair worked together when they were player and coach at Paris Saint-Germain, and it seems the relationship has been maintained and is still good.
Villarreal are also keen on bringing the forward to the club, but the same report claims that the Yellow Submarine need to sell or loan out striker Paco Alcacer first.
Cavani will reportedly sign a two-year deal with the LaLiga side as he looks to maintain peak fitness ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup later this year.
