DRAMA: 7 Players 'Unhappy' At Their Current Clubs

DRAMA: 7 Players 'Unhappy' At Their Current Clubs

With the European transfer window set to reopen in the coming weeks, here are seven footballers believed to be unhappy at their current clubs, including a Manchester United star who has hinted at a potential departure.

Following Denmark's 2-1 win over Sweden in an international friendly on Wednesday night, midfielder Christian Eriksen, who scored the goal that won his side the game, admitted he will consider his club future after the 2024 UEFA European Championship in Germany.

The experienced playmaker was forced into a reduced role this past season at the Red Devils, which he has conceded is one of the consequences of playing for a top club like United. Eriksen also added that "sometimes the coach looks the other way" after insisting he and the club will have to see where they stand ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. This comes after the 32-year-old started only 12 games in the Premier League this past term.

Staying in England, Liverpool's second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is desperate for regular game time. The 25-year-old has been used as back-up to Brazil international Alisson at Anfield, and has looked assured when given the chance to start games. Rumours suggest the Reds are looking to get in excess of £20 million (R483 million) for his signature.

Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko, meanwhile, is reportedly unhappy with how this past campaign at the Gunners played out for him. The Ukrainian has gone from being a key player for Mikel Arteta to a rotational option, after he made only two appearances – both from the bench – in his side's final six league matches of the season.

Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling is another England-based player displeased with their current situation. The 29-year-old heads into the end-of-season break having been snubbed for England's EURO 2024 squad, after being a consistent name on the Blues' bench in the second half of this past season. The Jamaica-born star will miss his first major tournament with the Three Lions since making his senior international debut in 2012.

Back in Manchester, Kalvin Phillips is expected to bid farewell to Manchester City following his apparent fallout with Pep Guardiola. The Spanish tactician has since apologised for calling the midfielder "overweight" upon his return from the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but has admitted that the 28-year-old is a player he cannot envision in his side. The midfielder spent the final six months of this past season at West Ham United, but struggled to find any kind of form.

In Spain, Barcelona forward Vitor Roque will be hoping to be given more game time under new coach Hansi Flick, after he was overlooked in most matches by ex-manager Xavi Hernandez. The teenager's agent, Andre Cury, angrily accused the club of mistreating his client and insisted they would only seek a permanent departure if it became clear he had no future at the Blaugrana. Things could change, though, following the side's managerial change, with club president Joan Laporta having insisted the Brazilian striker has simply needed time to adjust.

Over in Germany, rumours suggest experienced Bayern Munich fullback/midfielder Joshua Kimmich is unhappy that the club have allowed him to head off to international duty ahead of EURO 2024 without offering him a new contract. With the player's deal at the Bavarians expiring at the end of next season, their lack of action is believed to have left him feeling undervalued at the Allianz Arena.
