Having already lost out to Chelsea in the race for Moises Caicedo, Liverpool are now reportedly set to lose another midfield target to the Blues.

In a situation eerily similar to that of the Ecuadorian, the two Premier League giants have gone head to head for Belgium midfielder Romeo Lavia's services, and like the deal involving Caicedo, it appears the west Londoners have come out on top in the race for the teenager's signature.
The Merseysiders looked to be in pole position to land the 19-year-old for much of the window, but having had three bids rejected by Southampton, Chelsea have swooped in with a £50 million (R1.2 billion) offer, plus add-ons, which the Saints have accepted, and now according to The Athletic, Lavia has chosen to sign with Mauricio Pochettino's men instead of Jurgen Klopp's charges.
It is yet another big-money signing in the 15 months the Todd Boehly-led consortium has been in charge of the club.
This off-season alone, Chelsea have spent €323 million (R6.7 billion) on seven new arrivals as they look to equip Pochettino with the necessary tools to get the club back into European competition.

Having confirmed the arrival of Caicedo to Stamford Bridge on Monday night, the six-time English champions will be hoping to complete the Lavia transfer quickly so that he can also be available prior to their next league encounter against West Ham United on Sunday.
