Andry Lunin continued in goal for Los Blancos as Thibaut Courtois missed out through injury, as Ferland Mendy came in for Fran Garcia as the other change for Los Blancos.
The game's first opening fell to the visitors after 14 minutes when Robert Lewandowski delightfully played Lamine Yamal, who was unable to beat Lunin in a one-on-one situation.
Los Blancos were presented with a big chance of their own ten minutes later when Vinicius Junior skipped past a couple challenges to go level with goalkeeper Inaki Pena, but the Brazilian put his effort wide.
The home side had the ball in the back of the net after 30 minutes through Kylian Mbappe's neat finish, but the celebrations were cut short after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) spotted an offside on the Frenchman.
It was a particularly frustrating first half for Mbappe, who was flagged offside a massive six times in the opening 45 minutes.
The visitors got the breakthrough nine minutes into the second half when Lewandowski latched onto a through-ball from Pau Cubarsí and calmly slotted home his 16th league goal of the season.
The lead was doubled two minutes later as Lewandowski completed his brace with a towering header into the far corner after getting on the end of Alejandro Balde's cross.
Los Blancos were their own worst enemies in the second half after squandering two big chances, with Jude Bellingham firing wide from six yards while Mbappe was denied by Pena in a one-on-one situation.
The hosts were made to rue that miss as Barcelona got a third goal in the 76th minute, with Lamine Yamal collecting a pass from Raphinha before smashing the ball into the roof of the net to wrap up a delightful win.
There was enough time for a fourth goal with six minutes to play when Raphinha got his name on the score-sheet by latching onto a long ball over the top before lobbing the ball over Lunin.
Here's how they line up:
Real Madrid: Lunin, Vazquez, Militao, Rudiger, Mendy, Bellingham, Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Mbappe, Vinicius Junior
FC Barcelona: Iñaki Peña; Kounde, Cubarsí, Iñigo Martínez, Balde; Casadó, Pedri; Yamal, Fermín, Raphinha; Lewandowski.
