Bayern Munich superstar Arjen Robben has insisted that leaving Real Madrid for the German giants in 2009 was the best decision he made for his career.
Lewandowski: Why I Didn't Leave Bayern
Since his arrival in Germany, Robben has set fire to the Bundesliga season after season, winning trophy after trophy. Although he was initially unsure of making the move, he now feels it is the best football decision he could have made.
"I am always realistic and aware that the football world is constantly changing," he said, according to Sport.
"It could have been different. After my debut at Groningen, I spent two years at PSV. It was a big step for me to leave home at just 18.
"I went abroad at 20 to join a big club in Chelsea. After two years at Madrid, I made the decision to come to Bayern.
"At first I was skeptical, I didn't know if it was the right decision. But now I can say it is the best decision of my career."
Robben first played top-flight football for Groningen in Holland before being signed by Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven in 2002. The speedy winger impressed in his two years there, and eventually made his big move to Chelsea in July 2004.
The Dutchman showed promise but was unable to fully establish himself in the Premier League, with injuries also taking their toll, and Los Blancos came knocking three years later. Robben spent just two seasons in the Spanish capital before joining Bayern in 2009 for less than what Real paid for his signature.
