Although there are many top players in contention for France Football's Ballon d'Or prize, Messi and Ronaldo are once again expected to go head to head for the prestigious prize.
The award, which will be handed to the winner on 7 December, has been shared between the two superstars since 2008, with Messi winning it five times, and Ronaldo claiming it on four occasions.
A picture of the magazine's cover has been doing the rounds on social media in recent days, which appears to show Messi as the winner of the 2017 award.

There have, however, been reports rubbishing the image as fake, and it is also believed that the magazine prepares three different covers for its Ballon d'Or edition.

Many feel Ronaldo would be the deserving winner of the award, given that he won the UEFA Champions League and La Liga title with Los Blancos earlier this year.
