The Croatian was crowned the 2018 Ballon d'Or winner, becoming the first winner of the prestigious Golden Ball other than Messi or Ronaldo since 2007.
France Football handed their Ballon d'Or out on Monday night, while FIFA had already named Modric as The Best Men's Player in 2018 on 24 September.
The Ballon d'Or was voted for 180 journalists, with Modric receiving 753 points. Ronaldo followed in second place with 476 points, while Antoine Griezmann completed the podium with 414 points.
Kylian Mbappe came fourth with 347 points, before Lionel Messi completed the top five with 280 points. Messi and Ronaldo's tallies combined add up to 756 points, just three more than Modric received on his own.
Mohamed Salah was the highest-ranked African after finishing in sixth position with 188 points, while Sadio Mane, the other African nominee, finished in joint-22nd spot with just three points.

Real Madrid's Isco and Tottenham Hotspur's Hugo Lloris were the only two nominees who did not receive a single voting point.
