The football fraternity was in shock when Mamelodi Sundowns decided to part ways with the Johannesburg native at the start of pre-season.
Mokwena, however, did not rest on his laurels for long, and decided to join up with fierce continental rivals Wydad days after his departure from Chloorkop.
Upon his appointment, it was revealed that the 37-year-old tactician would be given the green light on all incomings at the club, and one of the players who has been brought in in this window is defender Ayman Dairani.
The 28-year-old, who signed for the Red Castle on a free transfer after his time with Botola Pro Inwi side Union Touarga Sportif came to an end, has revealed what working under the South African has been like so far.
"Working with coach Rulani Mokwena is very serious, and we feel like we are in a family. He is a coach who instils in us the spirit of victory, and God willing, we will be a group with a competitive spirit that will compete for all titles," Dairani told the club's official YouTube channel.
The Moroccan defender also revealed how grateful he was to join the north African powerhouse, and hopes, working alongside Mokwena, that they will return to the summit of domestic and continental football.
"I feel proud to wear the Wydad Athletic Club jersey," Dairani added.
"It was an easy choice for me, because it was a dream since I was a child, and now I have achieved it.

"This choice is a responsibility at the same time, and I hope that God will grant me success to provide the expected addition from me, and we will return the team to monopolise local and continental platforms, God willing."
