Russia began its invasion of neighbouring Ukraine last week, and as a consequence of their hostility, the world football governing body has taken the decision to suspend the east European nation from qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, mere weeks before the final stages of the European qualifiers.
Russia's potential opponents in those World Cup qualifiers, Sweden, Czech Republic, and Poland, had all released statements refusing to compete against Europe's largest country following their invasion of Ukraine.
In conjunction with European football governing body UEFA, the two organisations decided to exclude all Russian sides from any and all international competitions.
Aboutrika has now slammed FIFA in light of the Russian ban because such actions were never taken against Israel, a country that has been systematically killing and attacking Palestinians for decades.
"The decision to suspend Russian clubs and national teams from all competitions must be followed by a ban on the teams affiliated with Israel, who have been killing children and women in Palestine for years. You're using double standards," he wrote on Twitter, according to KingFut.
