The Capetonian recently started his tenure as Harambee Stars boss in their most recent FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
While he was unable to get any wins to kick-start his time with the East African outfit, drawing with Gambia and losing to Burundi, it seems that the Kenyan public have been happy with what they've seen in the short time he has been with the team.
What seems to have been a topic of discussion surrounding the South African tactician is his pay. It has been alleged by various Kenyan outlets that the 43-year-old is earning a whopping Ksh 8 million (R1.1 million) per month as Kenya boss, but who is footing the bill remained the unanswered question.
The FKF Director of Communication Jeff Kinyanjui took to Facebook quickly to refute the salary claims.
"There have been false reports claiming Benni McCarthy will be earning Ksh 8 million a month. To be clear, this is inaccurate.
"The coach's salary is paid by the government and falls under SRC guidelines. Even the entire technical bench does not earn such an amount collectively."
The SRC then put out a statement claiming that they are not responsible for the salary which caused confusion as to who was paying the salary.
It had been alleged that the nation's sports ministry was set to pay McCarthy, but now president of the FKF, Mohammed Hussien, has set the record straight.
"McCarthy and the technical team, they will be paid, we will pay them," Mohammed told the media on Tuesday, as per Pulse Sports Kenya.
The head of Kenyan football was further pressed about how much the former Manchester United assistant would actually be getting paid, however, he remained coy about the details.
"The issues of contracts and remuneration, there is also a privacy element. If the person is willing to communicate what they are getting remunerated it is up to them," he added.
