2022 Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema has named the teams he thinks are most likely to win the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The legendary striker played the majority of his career in Europe, starting out with his hometown club Olympique Lyon, before helping usher in a new era of Galacticos in the late 2000s at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Although tumultuous, he also had a long career with the French national team, but while his professional career is synonymous with Europe even though he is now playing in Saudi Arabia, the 36-year-old has close ties with Africa as too.
Benzema is a French citizen, but both his parents are from Algeria. It is believed his father is from a village named Tighzert, while his mother is from a town called Oran. The five-time UEFA Champions League winner also recently took a trip to the north African nation in order to reconnect with his roots.

While in Algeria, the Al Ittihad man was bombarded by members of the media, and was quizzed about who he thinks will win next year's AFCON.
Although he did not give an outright winner for the competition, set to be held in Morocco, the attacker did reveal who he thinks will contest the final.

"The final of the AFCON next year? Honestly, I don't know, will it be in Morocco? It's incredibly difficult to predict this competition, almost impossible, Benzema said, as per Afrique Sports.
"Let's say Morocco – Algeria."
