For some teams in the Egyptian top flight, their 2023/24 season has officially come to an end.
One of those teams is Pyramids FC, who played their final match of the campaign on Wednesday evening, when they ended their season with a 1-0 victory over El Dakhleya at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium.
A huge source of goals for the Cairo-based side this campaign has been their Congolese marksman Mayele.
In the 30-year-old's debut season in Egypt's premier division, the Mbuji-Mayi native managed to bag 17 goals, but during their latest league win, it was Marwan Hamdi who saved the day as his 95th minute strike was what earned his side the victory.
This means Mayele was unable to add to his goals tally for the season, consequently failing to close the gap on the star who is currently occupying the top spot in the Golden Boot race, and that is Wessam Abou Ali.
While Pyramids have officially concluded their league season, the Red Devils are one of the clubs that still have one match remaining on their calendar.
Palestine international Abou Ali has not started in Ahly's past two league matches, but will have the opportunity to add to his tally of 18 goals should he be named in the starting XI against Modern Sport FC this weekend.
The closest player who could catch Abou Ali in the final set of EPL fixtures is Al Mokawloon's Mohamed Salem.
